I am very excited about this next potluck coming up. In the spirit of celebrating and appreciating West African cuisines, here’s a book that features not only rich and mouthwatering recipes, but a glimpse into the country’s culture and gastronomy. Author Peter Thiam shows his passion for his homeland through Senegalese cooking using ingredients such as selim pepper, fonio, and dried and fermented fish and meats. Thiam is a chef, restaurateur with locations in Brooklyn NY, and a cookbook author, is originally from Dakar, Senegal and brings his experience and knowledge of Senegalese and other west African cooking to the culinary world. I commend him for helping to promote and give voice to a growing movement for African cuisines here in the US. You are all invited to this potluck which will start on August 26th at 1130 am.
